Joe Rogan apologizes for Cris Cyborg ‘dick’ joke: ‘I feel bad, I didn’t want to hurt her feelings’

Better late than never.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) color commentator Joe Rogan found himself in hot water after making a couple of “dick” jokes at the expense of current Invicta featherweight champion Cristiane Justino, who found herself the target of an impromptu roast that also included comedian Tony Hinchcliffe and UFC President Dana White.

Read our original report here.

As expected, Justino did not take too kindly to the insults, accusing the longtime funnyman of bullying (read those comments here). Now, more than two weeks later, Rogan is acknowledging his “dumb” attack on the Brazilian fighter and issued an apology to Stephie Haynes:

“I shouldn’t have said it, but it’s what you say if you’re hanging around with comedians, you know? It’s what we do. Plus, I had a couple of drinks. It was just a dumb thing to do, and I certainly didn’t mean it with any malice. I honestly didn’t. Then Tony elaborated on it and went even deeper with it. That’s what you do in a roast. She didn’t ask to be roasted, and it’s not her fault, but it was in the context of what we were doing. Still, I shouldn’t have done it, I shouldn’t have said it. I do feel bad about it, because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Anyway, I didn’t mean to start any static with her or anything like that, so I hope she accepts my apology. It’s my fault and I take full responsibility.”

Justino has yet to respond.

“Cyborg” does not compete inside the Octagon (yet), but has been linked to the current women’s bantamweight division after a protracted Twitter war with ex-division champion Ronda Rousey. Whether or not a “Rowdy” showdown is still in the cards after Holly Holm took over the 135-pound division remains to be seen.

That could depend on this.
